What does thermal printer work

    The working principle of the thermal printer is that a semiconductor heating element is mounted on the print head. When the print head is heated and touches the thermal paper, a desired pattern can be printed. The principle is similar to that of a thermal fax machine. The image is generated by heating a chemical reaction in the film. This thermal printer chemical reaction is performed at a certain temperature. High temperatures accelerate this chemical reaction. When the temperature is lower than 60°C, the paper needs to go through quite a long time, even for several years, to become dark color; and when the temperature is 200°C, this reaction will be completed in a few microseconds.

    

          The principle of a thermal printer is to coat a light-colored material (usually paper) with a transparent film, and to heat the film for a period of time to become dark (typically black and blue). The image is generated by heating a chemical reaction in the film. This chemical reaction is carried out at a certain temperature. High temperatures accelerate this chemical reaction. When the temperature is lower than 60 °C, the film needs to go through quite a long time, even up to several years, to become dark color; and when the temperature is 200 °C, this reflection will be completed in a few microseconds.

The thermal printer selectively heats in a determined position on the thermal paper, thereby producing a corresponding graphic. Heating is provided by a small electronic heater on the print head in contact with the heat sensitive material. Heaters are logically controlled by the printer in the form of square points or stripes, which when heated, produce a pattern corresponding to the heating element on the thermal paper. The same logic circuit that controls the heated elements also controls the feeding of paper so that the entire label or paper can be printed.
